The wait is over. Sushi burritos are now in Arizona! Ever since I had my first sushi burrito in D.C., I’ve been hooked. Sadly, there was no where in Arizona that had them. It seems like Arizona is always behind on the food-trend scene but better late then never, right? While there have been numerous poke shops opening up around the Valley in the last year, I have a feeling I’ll be back here, even though it’s not that close to me. Pokitrition is located in Chandler right off of the 101. I went to their grand opening yesterday and it was a breeze to get there from Scottsdale.
The wait was about 2 hours, but it was totally worth it. I had the salmon and marinated tuna and the texture and taste were spot on. It wasn’t fishy at all and it melts in your mouth. You can tell it’s fresh and the best part is the price is very in-line with other poke places. I’ve tried another poke place in Scottsdale before and the quality doesn’t come close. I thought I’d have to wait until I go to LA to get good poke, but not anymore!
You have the option of making a poke bowl or poke wrap (sushi burrito). There isn’t an overwhelming amount of sauces or toppings to choose from so it’s a pretty easy and stress-free ordering process. You start by telling them what kind of fish you want, what sauce you want, and then what toppings you’d like to finish it off. They also have some different drinks options available such as fresh brewed peach tea, cold brew coffee, and WTRMLN WTR.
Anyway, I’m super excited that there’s finally a fresh and delicious poke spot in the Valley and can’t wait to go back. Unfortunately, you’re going to have to wait another day as they are closed today to restock due to the overwhelming amount of people who showed up yesterday. I promise it’s worth the wait though!
